The Titans endured a horror start after putting the kick-off out on the full, but they’ve bounced back to lead the Knights 30-14 after 55 minutes.

Newcastle crossed after just two minutes when Anthony Milford put a bomb up for Edrick Lee who towered above his opposite number Corey Thompson to score in the corner.

But the Titans hit back with quick-fire tries to Greg Marzhew and David Fifita to lead by the 13th minute.

Marzhew crossed thanks to a smart grubber from AJ Brimson, while Campbell set up Fifita who proved too much to handle from seven metres out.

They’re two of the worst defensive teams in the NRL and the fourth try arrived in the 25th minute when Knights prop Daniel Saifiti crashed over from close range.

Brimson set up another with a beautiful ball for Beau Fermor who scored on the half-hour mark after charging into a hole and accelerating into the corner to score.

Marzhew bagged his double just minutes later when teenage halfback Tanah Boyd put up a bomb collected by Campbell who put through a cross-field grubber.

Then Boyd scored one of his own after backing up Tino Fa’asuamaleaui who offloaded 10 metres out after making a half break.

“It’s been a great start from the Titans, can Newcastle come back? I’m going to say no,” Greg Alexander said on Fox League at halftime.

But it was the Knights who struck first in the second half after hooker Jayden Brailey made a break down the middle and Dom Young finished out wide.

Brimson then got his name on scoreboard after Brian Kelly stood up Dane Gagai to make a break down the left wing before finding his No. 6 back on the inside.

“AJ Brimson, what an afternoon he’s having. He’s always there, he’s never out of the game,” Mick Ennis said on Fox League.

The Knights are boosted by the return of Tyson Frizell from a rib injury and Daniel Saifiti from Covid protocols, with Mat Croker and Daniel Saifiti switching to the bench.

The Titans need to win to put some breathing space between them and the wooden spoon, while the Knights can also avoid the spoon with a win.
