They had one job …
The Brisbane Lions pulled off a stunning two-point victory in Thursday evening’s elimination final against the Richmond Tigers, but someone at the Gabba seemingly wasn’t paying attention.
After the final siren sounded, the opening few bars of Richmond’s team song echoed around the venue before the error was quickly rectified.

It’s a somewhat forgivable misdemeanour considering there were 17 lead changes throughout the nailbiting contest, but unfortunately the blunder didn’t go unnoticed.
AAP’s Callum Goode tweeted: “This game is off its head. And, if I’m not mistaken, they just started playing the Tigers song after the siren to cap it off.”
Channel 10’s Caty Price posted: “Music man had the yips … first few bars of the Tigers song rings out across the Gabba. Brilliant final … how good is September.”
Cricket reporter Adam Collins tweeted: “F*** me who is on the song button?!”
The Lions claimed an incredible 16.10 (106) to 16.8 (104) victory to get the 2022 final series off to a thrilling start.
The seventh-placed Tigers were big favourites heading into the must-win clash, but their entire season has collapsed following a crucial call in the penultimate minute.
Richmond’s Tom Lynch kicked a right-foot snap around the corner after marking in the pocket, and the goal umpire awarded six points to the Tigers after the Sherrin flew high above the goal.
But the review came back saying it went over the top of the goalpost, so instead of a nine-point lead, it gave the Tigers a four-point buffer over the Lions.
And soon after, Brisbane’s Joe Daniher toed a bouncing ball through for the goal to put the Lions ahead, sparking wild celebrations.
“I can‘t believe that,” Lions coach Chris Fagan said after the win.
“What a game of football that was. Fair dinkum.
“Our blokes at it all night, didn‘t they? They wouldn’t go away. You think about it, we lose our ruckman in the first two minutes and we found a way.
“I am so pleased for this group because they have been under a lot of pressure about our finals record. We were really brave tonight and we can hole our heads up high as can Richmond. It was a super day.”
Both sides suffered brutal injuries in the first half of the match as the Lions’ Oscar McInerney was subbed out via a head clash in the opening minutes, leaving Brisbane down a genuine ruckman, while Dion Prestia was ruled out via a hamstring injury late in the first half.
The Lions will face either the Melbourne Demons or Sydney Swans in next weekend’s semi-final.
