Steve O’Keefe hilarious interview, Sydney Sixers, cricket news

Must read

Injured Sixers veteran Steve O’Keefe has delivered a cracking interview on the sidelines as he watched his teammates battle the Melbourne Renegades at the SCG on Wednesday night.

Having turned 38 this month, the elder statesman of Sydney’s pink side enjoyed a brilliant start to the new season, winning a man of the match award in his first two appearances, before going down with a hamstring injury on Monday night.

It’s an injury former teammate and Fox Cricket commentator Brad Haddin couldn’t help but sledge O’Keefe about, labelling it all too convenient given its timing in the festive season.

Asked about his hamstrings, the injured spinner couldn’t help but joke with Fox Cricket’s pundits.

“They’re made out of milk,” he laughed. “Small tear to my hamstring, bit of tendon in there as well which they reckon is not a good thing. But I’ll be right.”

Brad Haddin joked: “Sokky I still think you’re a genius. This was always going to happen a couple of games in. Enjoy the Christmas, New Year.”

“That’s it,” O’Keefe replied. “Why would I want to ruin it out here playing cricket? Boys go up to Brisbane, I’m gonna have a great time in Manly. Party on the first Hads, if you want to come round!”

Haddin laughed as he replied: “I’ll see you there!”

After a brief pause in the conversation, O’Keefe joked: “Am I on camera here or are we just having a chat?”

After the interview ended, Haddin joked again: “I think he’s a genius, Steven O’Keefe. Absolute genius. Plays the first couple of games of the year, gets man of the match in one. Grabs a hammy, and he’s right for the finals!”
